Israel Kills Family of Al-Jazeera Correspondent Wael Al-Dahdouh in Gaza
For years, Correspondent Wael al-Dahdouh has spoken out against the recurring Israeli war on Gaza, reporting on the losses suffered by his community, neighborhood and friends.
But this time, still wearing his press uniform, al-Dahdouh was distracted by something else: the killing of his family by Israel.
Al-Dahdouh’s wife, son and daughter were killed in Israeli shelling targeting a house in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. The family had fled northern Gaza and sought refuge in other parts of the besieged Gaza Strip, like thousands of other families.
In extremely distressing footage, Al-Dahdouh kneels over her son’s body sobbing, while her friends, all wearing blue vests, try to comfort her.
Al-Dahdouh is known for his accurate and compiled accounts of the Israeli war and the numerous massacres that wiped out entire families.

His focus during the 19-day war was on the extremely difficult humanitarian situation in Gaza, often reporting from atop the rubble of destroyed Gazan homes.
“It appears that the targeting of Dahdouh’s family occurred as a kind of Israeli retaliation against Al-Jazeera as a result of its constant coverage of the Israeli war and the massacres committed against the besieged Palestinians in the Gaza Strip,” Al-Jazeera Net reported.
Many journalists and/or their families have been killed in Israel’s war on Gaza, which many international law experts describe as genocide. (is/knrp)
